As part of the £5.5billion investment into the redevelopment of the Thameslink rail network, Blackfriars station was demolished and has been completely rebuilt. The station spans the River Thames, with the train platforms built on a new bridge over the river.

Pyramid Builders constructed the brick and blockwork to the North and South new stations, which span over 7 levels; 3 subterranean London Underground levels, a ground floor ticket hall and the upper levels which form the new overground rail station.

Pyramid Builders Ltd were able to develop the construction methodology with the Main Contractor, Balfour Beatty Engineering, from previous experience working on other station projects, particularly Kings Cross Northern Ticket Hall, ensuring a smooth contract management system.
